Second Life and ATI Graphics Card Issue

Since the most recent update from Second Life (SL), most users that run SL with ATI graphic cards are having a flickering to the screen upon movement. Also, certain objects on the avatar can become briefly distorted such as mesh hair or clothing prims.

I think Linden Lab needs to fix this urgently as most computers come with ATI cards these days.

The new Linden Realms

I'm all for Linden Lab moving forward with progress and when I heard about the new Linden Realms, I was excited.

I had just ordered a brand new laptop. (I knew to not even try to access the Realms on my old one - its graphics card was already struggling.) So, I waited two weeks, finally received my new computer, and was able to log in and check them out.

I, as well as many others, are leaving XstreetSL.

It's sad because I did make most of my money on there, however, I find the fees that they will be charging (especially for freebies) to be ridiculous.

Ancient Egypt City of Thebes

I'm a bit of a history buff, so when I searched for "egypt" and found the "Ancient Egypt City of Thebes" I was very excited.

The sim isn't officially open till Sept. 12th at 12PM SLT, however; you can drop in and explore what they do have set up already as well as browse the shopping center.

There are a few rules that you will need to be aware of if you do plan to visit:
1. This is a RP Sim, so if you don't feel like role playing while you visit, make sure to set your status to Busy.
2. You must dress in Egyptian garb to explore. There is an outfit (one for male and one for female) available near the landing point for $1L if you don't already have something suitable in your inventory.
3. You must wear the Visitor Tag (available near the landing point).
4. Read the rules of the sim and abide by them during your visit. (Aka: The book of Amun Ra.) Again, available near the landing point.

Are there no good language labs in SL?

Since I first joined Second Life, I have been on the lookout for Japanese Language Classes offered within.

I though to myself, "Hey, you wanna learn Japanese right? Maybe you can find a good class here."

So, I searched around.

There's "The Learning Center" but since I joined their group and their updates, they have only offered 2-3 Japanese Language classes (this has been within a 4 month period), they have all been at last notice, and all while I was at work. This doesn't help me learn Japanese when #1. I am at work and obviously can't access Second Life there, and #2. It's at last notice. Even if I "happened" to be at home and logged in, doesn't mean that I should drop everything that I am doing to go to your class. (Shortly after, I unsubscribed from their updates and left their group.) Now, don't get me wrong, I am not knockin' The Learning Center as an establishment in SL. I am aware that they do other things and this is something newer that they've added. I am just stating that if they're going to offer language classes, well...they should make it more frequent (like once a week) and offer better class schedules.

I did join more groups for Japanese language learning and it was the EXACT same problem.

After searching and pondering for a very long while about this, it really started to bother me.

Is there NO place in Second Life to learn Japanese for people like myself that work full time and need night classes?

Ughhh...

"Donna Flora" - Vintage & Retro Fashion Style

It had been my goal for a while to find beautifully made vintage clothes. I had been searching for quite some time and had not been happy with the options provided to me by Second Life search.

I found "Donna Flora" by accident and was really glad that I had.

"Donna Flora" (owned and operated by Squinternet Larnia) specializes in vintage fashion (i.e. 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, etc.).

I have purchased two outfits from "Donna Flora" in the past two months and have been amazed every time by the excellent detail put into each outfit. You can tell the clothes here are made with lots of planning, attention to detail, and an abundance of care.

So, if you are wanting to add some really nice vintage clothes to your collection, this is definitely the place to go shopping.

Lady Gaga has officially made it into Second Life inspiring creators to go a little "Gaga". ;-) So, if you're a Gaga fan, you'll love these items.

Outfit: "Temptation" by Wildcatz. Available in-world and on XstreetSL.

Shoes: "SHi Rhiano Boots" available on XstreetSL. (Please note: These boots do have that heel sound that most people seem to hate.) An alternative to the shoe is the "Mariah Stiletto" by Fancy Fashion. Available in-world here.

In addition to all the goodies listed above, there are some Lady Gaga poses available on XstreetSL here. (I haven't bought or tried these, but they do look really cool!) ;-)

Bridget's Pets & Outdoor

Last month I visited "Bridget's Pets & Outdoor" looking for a new kitten.
